As Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives (2024–present), I serve on the Dean’s executive leadership team of a five-discipline college — architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, construction management, and urban & regional planning — serving 1,200+ students and 150+ faculty and staff, with a research ecosystem of 100+ doctoral students. The directors of the college’s two multidisciplinary programs (Sustainability and the Built Environment; Historic Preservation) and the college-wide Ph.D. program report directly to me.
Research
Steered the college past $10 million in external sponsored research for the first time in its 100-year history; cultivated a faculty portfolio of 59 patent filings, 27 provisional patents, 17 trademarks, and 28 invention disclosures in a single year; established competitive internal seed-fund review panels and modernized pre-award operations.
Faculty
Maintained a 94% promotion-and-tenure success rate (16 of 17 candidates) across two consecutive years; designed and executed the “Mentoring Matters” mosaic-mentoring frameworks for faculty across all career stages; chaired national searches for the School of Architecture Director and the Urban & Regional Planning Chair.
Students and programs
As Interim Director of the 150-student Sustainability and the Built Environment program (2025–2026), held unit-head responsibility for budget, curriculum, and faculty assignments; broadened access through hybrid core delivery, a campus-wide minor, pre-collegiate camps, and accelerated 4+1/4+2 degree pathways.
University and global
Co-Chair, UF Council for Research Associate Deans (all 16 colleges); steering member, UF Graduate School Advisory Council; negotiated 8+ international MoUs across the UK, Japan, South Korea, China, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, including agreements signed with Tokyo, Osaka, Yonsei, and Korea Universities.
